The lake at Kell

The lake at Kell is idyllically situated at the confluence of the Kreidbach, Fronbach and Lehbach. It is embedded in the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park and offers a wide range of leisure activities.
This includes the 2.2 kilometer circular hiking trail around the lake, pedal boating, fishing or just relaxing. A wonderful outdoor pool is only 5 minutes away from our hotel. There are numerous catering establishments in Kell and the surrounding area.
The lake is a popular starting point for hiking and mountain biking and in winter for ski hikes, tobogganing or fun hours on the natural ice rink right on the lake. Riding opportunities at the Fronhof stud farm, as well as the bowling alley, the indoor tennis center and the mini golf course at the "Landal Greenparks" holiday park round off what's on offer in the vicinity of the lake.
The lake at Kell offers day and holiday guests an eventful stay.

Flight exhibition in Hermeskeil

In the largest private exhibition of its kind in Europe, adult and young visitors can marvel at the Concorde in all its splendor - and of course much more.

Fire brigade experience museum in Hermeskeil:
In the fire brigade experience museum, visitors can expect an exciting course through different themed areas. Immerse yourself in the world of fire brigades and experience the history of firefighting from the beginning to the present day.

Hochwald museum in Hermeskeil:
In the Hochwald museum you can experience the life, work and living of your ancestors in a realistic way. The diverse world of our ancestors opens a window into the history of the entire Hochwald.

"Züscher Hammer" in Hermeskeil:
The largest ironworks in the Hunsrück developed at this location. Experience a reconstructed hammer mill and much more today.

Grimburg / Castle and Witch Museum:
The Grimburg was built in 1190 as a state castle for the archbishops of Trier. You get an insight into the time of witch hunts and get to know different torture methods of that time.


Freetime

Wolf park in Merzig:

In the wolf park you have the opportunity to observe wolves in their natural habitat. Around 20 of the impressive animals live in spacious outdoor enclosures in a quiet forest area.

Barfußpfad (Barefoot path) in Schillingen:

The Barfußpfad leads, among other things, on paths that are covered with pleasant wood chips, over balancing trunks that test your sense of balance and through a refreshing stream bed. Sensing paths with bark mulch, sand, mud, fine and coarse gravel bordered between wooden beams provide a wide variety of perceptions of the underground.

Walderlebnispfad (forest adventure trail) in Zerf:

The Walderlebnispfad invites you to get to know the "forest" ecosystem with all your senses. The path offers a variety of opportunities for active pursuits. Visitors can perceive the "forest" habitat by smelling, touching, hearing and seeing. It is a special feel-good experience for the whole family.


Sommerrodelbahn (summer taboggan run) at the Petersberg:

Visit one of the most beautiful and exciting summer toboggan runs. Your ride takes you spectacularly down from the 584 meter high Peterberg through steep curves, arches, swings and jumps.


Kletterpark Koala ( climbing park) in Kell am See:

Be adventurous and at the same time enjoy a great view and have fun at the same time. In the Koala climbing park you can jump into a net like Tarzan and balance at breathtaking heights over swaying ropes, bridges and trunks.


Hike

Saar-Hunsrück-Steig:

The Saar-Hunsrück Steig is certified as a premium trail by the German Hiking Institute. It runs through the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park on a varied route, mostly on natural paths. It is consistently "unmissable" with visual markings and signposts with distance information. You can find more information at www.saar-hunsrueck-steig.de

Traumschleifen:

The dream loops are between 6 and 20 km long. There are short, easy to walk, but also challenging tours. They run mostly on narrow, natural paths through open landscapes and diverse forests along streams, views, rock formations and natural and cultural monuments. The highest demands on the hiking level are met by all dream loops. Only premium trails that have been certified by the German Hiking Institute with more than 50 adventure points receive the rating. In short: the dream ribbons are simply great!


Cycling / Mountainbiking

 

Ruwer-Hochwald-cycle path:

The cycle path takes you from Trier through the romantic Ruwer Valley over the former railway road to the wooded heights of the Hochwald. A height difference of approx. 400 meters has to be overcome over the entire length of the cycle route. With an average gradient of around 1% over the total length of 48 km, the route is very family-friendly and also suitable for less experienced cyclists.

Mountainbiking:

From the less fit leisure biker to the sporty ambitious mountain biker, there are numerous possibilities that make every cyclist's heart beat faster. A height level between 230m above sea level. NN and almost 700 m above sea level. NN and route lengths of 22 to 55 km guarantee pure driving pleasure.

Saar-Schleifen-Land:

A special cycle path has been laid out around the Saarland, and others lead right through it. And to get even closer to the country and its people, there are eleven additional cycling laps in Saarschleifenland. Since these are always circular tours, there are of course any number of entry options.
